Nashville!
We visited a friend in Nashville, arriving late Friday evening and leaving early Wednesday morning.
Itinerary
Saturday: Brunch at The Treehouse, grocery shopping, walk/hike at Harpeth River Greenway, dinner at Puckett’s.
Sunday: Breakfast at home, Centennial Park, Swett’s for lunch, Cheekwood, and dinner at Martin’s BBQ Joint.
Monday: Anthony worked remote, so Poppy and I had a chill day of activities within walking distance of the airbnb. Toddler story time at the local library, lunch at City Limits Bakery & Cafe, went home for nap time, then snacked and bummed around the house after that.
Tuesday: Anthony working again, so Poppy and I hung out downtown. Breakfast at Sun Diner, did the Old Town Trolley Tour, Assembly Food Hall for lunch, John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge to kick off the stroller nap, then Cumberland Park to continue the nap and hang out and play a bit. Then ice cream followed by dinner and drinks at Bobby Hotel Rooftop Lounge.
Baby Related Details
Type of travel: Plane ride with Poppy as a lap infant, probably for the last time😭 (4 hour flight, 2 hour time difference) + Airbnb. This flight was easy breezy after Barcelona, haha. She didn’t sleep at all on the flight, but fell asleep in the car on the way to the Airbnb, and we were able to transfer her from the carseat to her bed to continue her sleep, and she proceeded to sleep through the whole night! She seems to be getting used to the whole airport routine (minus TSA…where she still loses it when she has to put her doll and backpack through the machine) and is figuring out that going on a plane she gets lots of screen time, which she looks forward to.
Eating: Brought snacks from home, grocery shopped for some basics, and otherwise she ate whatever we were eating. She did great at restaurants, but it was definitely a trip filled with much junk food and not enough veggies. She loved eating burgers, chips, and ice cream.
Sleeping: She slept in her own room on a queen bed with pillow barriers. Naps were on-the-go except one day that she got a nice 3 hour home nap. Surprisingly she wasn’t too grumpy being woken up at 4:30am the morning we were flying out.
Activities: Mostly sightseeing and eating out.
Transportation: So thankful for our friend, who drove us everywhere in her car! We brought Poppy’s car seat and also a travel stroller.
Afterthoughts
Wins:
Packing fewer toys for the plane. I bought her a Polly Pocket that I revealed on the plane which was a hit. Getting a cup of ice from the beverage cart was also very exciting.
Stroller nap in Cumberland park was great! It was super quiet there with almost no other people (a jogger and a couple walkers passing through). We sat in the shaded covering by the amphitheater so it wasn’t too hot, and I laid down and closed my eyes for a bit too haha. It was so nice to find a public, shaded, quiet, unbusy place for an afternoon break.
Nursing on the plane was easier this time when I had her sit on my lap facing me and then pull my jacket over her back and under my chin (if that makes sense…). It was good nursing coverage also made a nice little dark cove which I think helped her fall asleep faster.
Improvements:
We use cloth diapers at home, but packing them for vacation seems to have been more of a hassle than a convenience….and they’re heavy and add a lot to our luggage weight. For next time, we’re considering packing enough diapers for travel and then buying a pack of disposables at our destination.
